First Impressions

A converted Victorian courthouse with a kitchen inside it that earns the room. Florence Knight's cooking is the right counterweight to one of the most dramatic spaces in London.

Sessions Arts Club is in a former Victorian courthouse on Clerkenwell Green — the bones are extraordinary, the main room enormous and raw and beautiful, the kind of space that could easily become the sole argument for visiting. Florence Knight's cooking understands this and doesn't try to compete with the room. Instead it does restrained, seasonal modern British food that works precisely because it doesn't overclaim.

It is also a genuinely creative environment — arts events, residencies, a community of people who use the building for more than dinner. But the dinner is the reason to book, and the room makes every occasion feel correctly sized.

What We Loved
THE KITCHEN

Seasonal modern British — precise, unfussy, ingredient-led. The whole fish and the vegetable dishes are consistently the best arguments on the menu.

THE ROOM

The old Sessions House court chamber — raw plaster walls, tall windows, enormous scale, no compromise. One of the most dramatic rooms in London. The food earns it.

WHAT TO ORDER

WHATEVER'S SEASONAL · WHOLE FISH · THE VEGETABLE COURSES

THE VIBE

Sessions Arts Club is the building you go for and the kitchen you stay for. Book a table, arrive early enough to look at the space, and let the evening take its time.

Worth Knowing

Reserve well in advance — this room fills weeks out, especially on weekends.

Aim for an earlier seating if you want a calmer room; later tables run louder and longer.
