Husbands

Husbands is the answer to a question most men don't know they're asking: what if a suit could be sexy? Nicolas Gabard — a former lawyer and ad-man — founded it in 2012 (naming it after the 1970 John Cassavetes film) on a quiet street in the 2nd, on a mission to drag French tailoring away from the staid and toward the seductive. The Husbands silhouette is instantly recognizable: strong shoulders, generous lapels, a high waist, an emphatic and elongated line, all pulled straight from old photographs of Gainsbourg, Jagger, and Bryan Ferry. Jackets are fully canvassed and handmade in a Naples atelier. It is, simply, where you go in Paris to look like the best-dressed man in any room without looking like you're in costume.

Nouri had trousers made to measure here — French-cigarette slim and tall, perfectly tailored, in a charcoal with a faint thin stripe you only catch in the right light. He's worn them as separates, no jacket, and they're the sharpest thing he owns. The made-to-measure experience is the reason to come: you choose the fabric from their archival British mill cloths, and Gabard himself gets the line exactly right.
