The Peninsula brought its Hong Kong-bred operational precision to a beaux-arts building near the Arc de Triomphe, and the result is a palace that simply works — technology that functions, service that anticipates, a spa that outclasses the competition.
It is less romantic than the old-guard palaces and more reliable than all of them. If you value the experience running flawlessly over the experience feeling like 1900, this is your Paris hotel.

First Impressions
A restored historic building on Avenue Kléber, moments from the Arc de Triomphe. The arrival is grand in the modern Peninsula idiom — polished, immediate, frictionless.
The Rooms
Among the most technologically considered rooms in any Paris palace, without losing the warmth. Generous in size, impeccable in finish.
Food & Drink
The rooftop — L'Oiseau Blanc — is the move, for the view across the rooftops to the Eiffel Tower as much as the food. The spa is the best of any palace hotel in the city, and that is not a small claim.
The Neighborhood
The 8th near the Étoile — the Arc de Triomphe, the top of the Champs-Élysées, Avenue Montaigne shopping a short walk south.
The Peninsula is the palace for people who want the fairytale to also be punctual. It delivers on both, which is rarer than it should be.
What We Loved
The rooftop terrace at L'Oiseau Blanc is one of the great views in Paris — the Arc de Triomphe to one side, the Sacré-Cœur in the distance. The food matches the setting.
The building was the Hôtel Majestic before the Peninsula group undertook an €800 million renovation. The result is perhaps the most technically polished hotel in Paris.
The largest standard rooms of any Paris palace hotel. The Peninsula does not scrimp on space, which in Paris is a meaningful statement.
More integrated room technology than anywhere else in Paris. The system works, which is not always the case. It earns its price-per-square-meter.
Worth Knowing Before You Book
- 01The Peninsula is at the very top of the Paris hotel market on price. If comparing palace hotels, the space and technology justify the premium for certain travelers and not for others.
- 02The avenue Kléber location is close to the 8th's best addresses but not within easy walking distance of the Left Bank. Budget for transport.
- 03The spa requires advance booking. The rooftop pool fills up — arrive early.
- 04Breakfast included rates exist. The breakfast is exceptional and worth factoring into the comparison.
