Le Crillon occupies an 18th-century palace on Place de la Concorde, and its facade is, simply, the most beautiful of any hotel in the city. A Rosewood property now, it reopened after a major restoration with its grandeur intact and its service sharpened.
Even if you never book a room, Les Ambassadeurs bar is reason enough to walk through the doors — one of the most beautiful bar rooms in Europe.

First Impressions
The Concorde facade is the event — 18th-century stone, the obelisk across the square, the sense of arriving at a monument rather than a hotel. Because, essentially, you are.
The Rooms
Restored to palatial standard, some with views over the Concorde. Two suites were designed by Karl Lagerfeld, a detail the hotel is rightly proud of.
Food & Drink
Les Ambassadeurs bar is the room to be in — gilded, grand, a genuine Paris institution. The dining carries the Rosewood-era polish.
The Neighborhood
Place de la Concorde, the 8th — the Tuileries, the Champs-Élysées, Rue Saint-Honoré shopping, the Seine. Unimprovable for location.
Le Crillon is the most beautiful building you can sleep in in Paris. Even a drink at Les Ambassadeurs is worth the trip.
What We Loved
The grandest square in Paris, and the hotel has been on it since 1758. The view from the terrace across the Place toward the Tuileries and the Louvre is among the best in the city.
Tristan Auer's restoration for Rosewood took four years and returned the hotel to a condition it had perhaps never achieved. The Marie-Antoinette suite is now the most discussed room in Paris.
The brasserie by Christopher Hache is one of the better restaurant rooms in Paris. The grand height, the light from the Place, the cooking.
Two Karl Lagerfeld-designed suites are the most discussed accommodation in Paris. Whether or not you are staying in them, they set a tone for the entire property.
Worth Knowing Before You Book
- 01Le Crillon is a Rosewood property at Rosewood's highest price tier. The experience justifies the investment — ensure the occasion does too.
- 02Rooms facing Place de la Concorde have the view. They are also on a major Parisian intersection. Factor in the trade-off.
- 03The spa books up. Reserve in advance.
- 04The hotel runs best when fully staffed. Avoid arriving during major Paris events when every palace is stretched.
