Hôtel Hana

Tucked between Opéra and the Bourse — five minutes from Little Tokyo — Hôtel Hana is the work of designer Laura Gonzalez and hotelier Nicolas Saltiel, and it pulls off something rare: a hotel that feels both thoroughly Parisian and unmistakably Japanese without leaning on cliché. Twenty-six rooms, a spa, an indoor pool, and a restaurant that knows what it's doing.

The neighbourhood is one of those central Paris pockets that still surprises — close to the Opéra, near the covered passages, next to the Japanese restaurants and grocery stores of the 2nd. The hotel arrives quietly on the street and the interior confirms the intention: warm, layered, considered, with Gonzalez's signature richness tempered by a Japanese sense of restraint.

Twenty-six rooms across several categories, all sharing the same palette of lacquered wood, deep textures, and curated objects. Nothing is loud. The beds are excellent, the bathrooms properly done, and the scale of each room feels deliberate rather than just compact. Upper floors are worth the upgrade for light.

The ground-floor restaurant and bar leans Japanese in its flavours — cocktails included — and does it with precision rather than pastiche. It's popular with non-guests and deservedly so. Book a table even if you're staying elsewhere.

The spa incorporates Far East treatments alongside the standard menu, and the indoor pool is the kind of amenity that earns its keep in Paris's colder months. Not a large operation, but well run and rarely overcrowded given the hotel's scale.

Quatre-Septembre and Bourse metros are both a few minutes on foot — you're well connected. The surrounding streets are excellent for lunch and browsing.
