First Impressions

The Caprice Holdings room on Dover Street — a handsome Mayfair townhouse with the social energy that the group has always understood better than most.

The Dover is on Dover Street, which has become one of the more interesting restaurant streets in Mayfair, and it occupies a handsome townhouse with the social energy that Caprice Holdings — the group behind Scott's, Brasserie Zédel, and The Ivy — has always built rooms around. The food is modern European and correctly done. The room is the primary argument: a Mayfair townhouse used well, with the right crowd and the kind of atmosphere that makes a midweek dinner feel like an occasion without forcing it.

The Dover Street Counter on the lower level does a more casual version of the same brief — smaller plates, slightly less formal, the same wine list. Both formats work.

What We Loved
THE KITCHEN

Modern European brasserie — well-executed, social, designed for the room and the crowd rather than for the critics. The seafood and the classics are the strongest orders.

THE ROOM

A Mayfair townhouse done with Caprice precision — the right lighting, the right proportions, a room that prioritizes the social atmosphere as much as the menu. Dover Street outside the windows.

WHAT TO ORDER

WHATEVER SEAFOOD IS CURRENT · THE CLASSICS · THE DOVER STREET COUNTER FOR SOMETHING LIGHTER

THE VIBE

The Dover is Caprice Holdings at their best — a room that makes dinner feel easy and good without requiring an occasion. Go for the social atmosphere and stay because the food earns it.

Worth Knowing

Reserve well in advance — this room fills weeks out, especially on weekends.

Aim for an earlier seating if you want a calmer room; later tables run louder and longer.
