Cala Jondal
In the south of the island, backed by pine trees, with water clear enough to see the bottom at five metres. Cala Jondal is not the whitest sand in the Mediterranean — it is pebbled and quiet and honest about what it is, which is one of the better beaches you will find anywhere.
Arrive before 10. Claim a sunbed. Do not leave. The structure is morning swim, long lunch at the beach restaurant, afternoon sun, sundowner as the light drops, and out before the traffic builds. The restaurant is good enough that skipping it for another option would be a mistake.
